What we do
Småkraft is a renewable energy producer. Our 246 hydropower plants are located across Norway and Sweden, delivering a mean annual production capacity of 2.2 TWh. This makes Småkraft the largest owner and operator of small-scale hydropower in Europe.
Small-scale hydropower borrows water from the river and utilizes the topography of the landscape to produce renewable and sustainable electricity. A minimum water level is maintained in the original river, while the borrowed water used for electricity production is returned after passing through the turbine. The electricity produced is transported and distributed to consumers through the power grid.
The value created is also shared with our stakeholders, including creditors and debt investors, local landowners, municipalities, and communities. For over 20 years, Småkraft has been investing in the development of new renewable energy. Our continued commitment to growth is our contribution to the energy transition. We enable renewable energy production with minimal environmental impact and strong focus on preserving the local surroundings.
